Words and Worse

During lunch today I was listening to the radio and the local newspaper had ad stating how much you get for just for 1.50 rupees. That got me thinking about quantity and relating it to some of the papers I’ve turned in at college… Just how many words, on average, is in a typical daily edition of the Times of India? I realize the unit of measure in newspapers is column inches, but with the software we use these days, it would seem possible to answer that question pretty easily.
So then… that got me to thinking again… I’m certain that it’s a pretty good assumption that newspaper readers do not read EVERY word printed in the paper, but I wonder what percentage of the paper they do read. This, of course, brings me back to my original thought, of the total number of words printed in the paper, how many words does a typical reader read?
I know… Odd.
