“Most of us don’t belong to just one community. We have multi-faceted and complex identities. The different aspects of our identity are a source of pride and strength. However, they can also make us the target of prejudice on more than one level…” from an LGBT support group. Interesting thought. Like being half Tamil and half Bengali with odd descent makes me awkward with both communities. Does being independent necessarily widen perspective?
