Tele-civility

The last day of a ‘real’ holiday brings about a phenomena called ‘holiday-end-blues’ or so travel-psychologists (yes! They exist) tell me. Today is last day at Bangalore and sure enough its been awful! Fights, silence and all that is pretty ok… happens on a regular bad day. But then today, for the first time in a year I left my phone behind at a eating joint for over 10 hrs and didn’t figure out it was missing! The remarkable part is that when I did- the restaurant had carefully kept my phone and had been wondering why I hadn’t called thus far.

The reason I suspect that this is going to be the only positive part of the day is that 1) I have a two day journey in an AC coach due tonight which will be undoubtedly claustrophobic and 2) I am feel that going back to Delhi is the worst mistake I can make. Take my phone instance. In Delhi, retaining a customer’s forgotten belongings is against business decorum. One mistake and four grand plus a valuable phonebook would have disappeared for ever…
