Total Number of Books I Own: That I bought or have been gifted? That would be probably be a thousand or so. If we’re talking intra-generational ownership …. ummm… will tell you when I finish counting!
Last book I bought: Lord of the Flies by William Golding- this is actually an old favourite- but I finally possess a copy, which is great! It scared the hell out of me though- makes children seem savage. Perhaps they are. Aren’t we all?
Last Book I Read: Freakonomics by Levitt and Dubner. This one makes economic sense seem almost obvious. Its insightful, easy, brilliant and an essential if you want to get through life making good economic decisions with ease.
Five Books That Mean a Lot to Me: Books in general mean a lot to me. Off the top of my head the five books I love would be; Armchair Economist (Landsburg); Sons and Lovers (DH Lawrence); The Sea, The Sea (Iris Murdoch) ; Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoevsky) and the Gerald Durrell series. Armchair Economist taught me a new way of questioning and made eco seem like fun for the first time, Sons and Lovers is a fascinating tale of brilliant complexity, Crime and Punishment is a real perspective on justice and Gerald Durrell is a childhood hero.
